Referrals Program (Sales Referral Partners)

Refer a business to the platform; when they subscribe, you earn a commission on their subscription for as long as they stay a paying customer.

The program is open to anyone Local Visibility Lab has set up as a sales referral partner — you don't have to be an Agency Partner. Your referral tools live under Settings → Referrals.

Not seeing Settings → Referrals? Generate your code there first (see below). If a Local Visibility Lab admin set a custom commission rate for you, it shows on that page.

How it works

1. You get a referral code and a share link unique to you.
2. You share the link (your site, LinkedIn, direct outreach, wherever).
3. Someone visits with your link, signs up, and subscribes to a paid plan.
4. From then on, every paid invoice on that account earns you commission — for the lifetime of the subscription, not just the first year.
5. Commission is paid out to your own Stripe account after a short holding period.

Getting your code

Settings → Referrals → Generate Referral Code. You get:

• A short code (e.g. a1b2c3d4).
• A share link like https://localmarketing.so/signup?ref=a1b2c3d4.

Share the link. When someone lands on it, we stamp a signed, server-side attribution record so the referral is credited to you even if they close the tab and come back later (within your attribution window — 60 days by default).

Connecting Stripe (how you get paid)

Payouts go to your own Stripe account, not the platform's and not any agency's.

1. Settings → Referrals → Connect Stripe Account.
2. You're sent to Stripe's hosted onboarding to enter your details (this is Stripe Express — Stripe collects your identity and bank info; the platform never sees it).
3. When you return, the page re-checks your status automatically. You'll see one of:
   • Connected — your account is fully set up; payouts flow automatically.
   • Connected, in review — Stripe still has your account under review. Commissions keep accruing; they pay out once Stripe enables payouts.
   • Not connected — you haven't finished Stripe's flow yet.

You can start earning before you connect. Commission accrues from the first paid invoice; it simply waits in a "held" state until your Stripe account is ready.

Commission terms

• Rate: 7% by default. A Local Visibility Lab admin can set a higher rate for select partners (e.g. experienced reps with a large network). Whatever rate is in effect when an invoice is paid is the rate applied to that invoice, and it's recorded on each commission so history is stable.
• Duration: the lifetime of the customer's subscription — you keep earning as long as they keep paying.
• What the commission is calculated on: the whole invoice, excluding tax — after any discounts/coupons. Add-ons the customer pays for on the same invoice (custom domain, directory listings, etc.) are included. Because it's post-discount, a coupon that lowers the customer's invoice lowers your commission on that invoice too. Tax is excluded.
• Holding period: each commission is held for 30 days after the invoice is paid, then released to your Stripe account. The hold protects against refunds and chargebacks.
• Refunds & disputes:
  • A full refund (or a dispute) on an invoice voids the commission for that invoice.
  • A partial refund recomputes the commission on the amount the customer actually kept.
  • These only affect commissions that haven't been paid out yet.
• If the account pauses: if the customer's subscription pauses (or goes past-due), that referral pauses too — no new commissions accrue while it's paused. If they resume, it resumes. If they cancel, the referral ends.

Your dashboard

Settings → Referrals shows:

• Paid out — commissions already sent to your Stripe account.
• Upcoming — commissions accrued but not yet paid (held, pending, or being retried).
• Customers — each account attributed to you, its status (active / paused / ended), and what you've earned and have upcoming from it.
• Commission history — per-invoice rows: the invoice amount (excl. tax), your commission, the rate applied, the status, and (for held items) the date it becomes available.

Commission statuses you'll see: held (waiting out the 30-day hold), pending (releasing / retrying), paid, failed (a payout attempt failed and will retry), and voided (refunded or disputed).

Requirements

• A Local Visibility Lab admin sets you up as a sales referral partner (or you appear once your first referral is attributed).
• A Stripe account to receive payouts (you create it during the Connect step — takes a few minutes).

What you can't do

• No self-referrals. You can't apply your own code to an org you belong to, and you can't be attributed to your own account. (One referrer per org, and it can't be you.)
• No incentivized clicks. Don't promise a kickback to people who use your link — both sides risk removal.
• No bidding on the platform brand. Mention us in your own content freely, but don't run paid ads on our brand or trademarks.

FAQ

Do I have to be an Agency Partner? No. The program is open to any sales referral partner.

What if the customer signed up without my link? An admin can still attribute the account to you manually, with a start date — you earn on invoices paid on or after that date. Reach out to your Local Visibility Lab contact.

Do I earn on invoices that were already paid before I was attributed? No. Commission starts from when your referral is attached to the account — an invoice paid before that isn't credited. Attribution needs to be in place before the customer's invoice for you to earn on it.

Can two people share the commission on one account? No — it's one referrer per org.

When exactly do I get paid? 30 days after each invoice is paid, provided your Stripe account is connected and payouts are enabled. Payouts are per-invoice, released by an automated job.

Does a single-location plan count? Yes. Example: a $49/mo single-location account at a 10% rate earns $4.90 per paid invoice (before any tax exclusion, which for a tax-free invoice is the whole $49).
